Very sad, unsure, and most importantly defeated on Dr. Martin Luther king day this year. I was so sad at what has transpired. To be perfectly clear, I have been feeling this way ever since the election. Hoping that I would wake up and it was some sort of distorted dream. Seeing the horror and dismay that’s happening right in front of us. My children are scared of what might happen to their father. I pray and I educate myself on steps I may need to take. Never imagined a far worse United States but it’s here. I hold promise of a better future in my sights, but it will be a long time for that!

I remember a conversation we had in 2016. You stayed the course then, and you continue to do so. Who ever said that this work is ever done? It’s only because of those that dare to hope and build continuously that communities overcome. Thank you for hoping and building.

Good memory! Thank you my friend :) Grateful for advocates like you and look forward to working together - true enough, the work is never over - that's why the journey is more important than the destination.
