📡 On my Radar
Those lofty corporate diversity commitments? Many companies are quickly backpedaling. But who’s changing course isn’t random:
Who's retreating:
Consumer-facing companies (Target, Walmart, McDonald's, Amazon, Meta) are swapping "DEI" for softer terms like "inclusion" while quietly continuing similar practices. Interestingly they are taking these steps before any boycotts or threats of boycotts.
Federal contractors like Lockheed Martin that are facing significant pressure from the U.S. government to end DEI
Law firms tasked with challenging government overreach are ironically scrubbing mentions of their own diversity programs.
Who's standing firm:
B2B companies like JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs are sticking to their diversity policies, citing long-term business performance and innovation benefits.
Mission-driven brands like Ben & Jerry's and Patagonia are legally challenging attempts to muzzle their social activism.
Innovation-focused companies like Apple recognize diverse workforces drive better outcomes and talent retention.
The takeaway:
Companies with strong support from employees, customers and investors who expect social values aren't abandoning their commitments.
If these values matter to you, vote with your wallet.
